I want to start by saying that today I really feel blessed to be living in the Greatest Country in the world... The United States Of America. As I sit here looking out at God’s beautiful creation I can’t help but acknowledge how blessed we are as a nation and how blessed I am is one of God‘s children. No don’t get me wrong life is not always peachy, the weather is not always perfect, our health isn’t always great, our bank accounts aren’t always overflowing, but if we sit back and take a deep breath there’s no doubt that we realize that God has blessed each one of us more than we deserve.

I was meditating on Romans chapter 12 this morning and some verses really jumped out to me concerning my love towards others...

“Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality. Bless those who persecute you. Don’t curse them; pray that God will bless them. Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep.” Romans’ 12:9-15

Growing up, most of us learned to be courteous and kind to others. We were taught to speak kindly into avoid hurting others feelings and that our words will hurt people. I believe the kind of love that is expressed here is the love that God is calling us to that’s real and genuine that goes far beyond just being polite. Unselfish love that God calls us to live out each day sometime will demand our time our money and definitely our personal involvement. We are to look around for people that need our love look for ways that us and our fellow believers can love our communities for Christ.

This put in simple words “put others first“.

You know when this really gets hard? Verse 14 says bless those who persecute you, don’t curse them but pray that God will bless them. Wow! How hard is that?

Matthew 5 verse 44 Jesus says “but I say love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you in that way you will be acting as true children of your father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the Just and the unjust alike.“

Jesus says here that we are to love our enemies and treat them well, if we do that we will truly show that Jesus is the Lord of our lives. This is only possible for those who give themselves fully to God, because only Jesus can deliver us from our natural selfishness. We have to trust the Holy Spirit to help us show love to those for whom we may not FEEL love.

So I want to encourage you today, pray for someone in your past that has wronged you, someone you’re upset with. If you do that Jesus will egin to heal your heart from the inside out.

Have a a blessed day!
